KUKSA NIM (Grandmaster) Yum, Ki Nam:
This uniquely dynamic man has traveled and established schools in Korea, Hong Kong, Macao, Japan, the Philippines and the United States. Kuksa Nim has trained luminaries as Asian martial arts superstar, JACKIE CHAN, Japanese wrestling star ANTONIO INOKI as well as former Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos’ personal guards. When he came to the U.S, he established the SHILLA HWARANG MUYEH with C. M. Brown as one of his first American students.
CHONG KWAN JANG NIM (Head Master) YUM, KI TAE:
Ki Tae Yum is one of Kuksa Nim’s younger brothers. Master Yum is the former chairman of the Philippine Hwa Rang Do Association, a position he relinquished when he came to New Jersey in 1992. Upon arrival in the USA, he established the DRAGON HWA RANG DO ACADEMY in Old Bridge, New Jersey. In 1999 Chong Kwan Jang Nim relocated to Sarasota, Florida where he currently operates his dojang.
KWAN JANG NIM (Master) C. M. Brown
- Studied directly under Kuksa Nim (Grandmaster Kin Nam Yum) and was one of his first American students and Black Belts.

Kwan Jang Nim Tim Elliot
Mr. Tim Elliott is the owner and Head Master of the academy. He holds the title and position of Kwanjang Nim. Mr. Elliott entered the art of Hwa Rang Do as a high school student in the mid 1970’s at the first Hwa Rang Do training hall (Dojang) in Phoenix, Arizona. After graduating from high school, he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in South Korea where he had the opportunity to further his study of Hwa Rang Do. After his military service, he was selected to be a part of a special group of Hwa Rang Do students to go through an instructor training course at the Hwa Rang Do headquarters under the art’s modern founder. After graduating from the program, Mr. Elliott opened his first school in Glendale, Arizona in 1982. Since that time, he has continued the honored tradition of teaching and passing down the knowledge of the art to generations of dedicated students
